At the Colosseum archaeological park, until 7/1/2024, the exhibition event “Gladiators in the Arena. Between the Colosseum and Ludus Magnus”, conceived and created by the Colosseum Archaeological Park.
The event consists of a permanent multimedia installation and a temporary exhibition that can be visited from 21 July 2023 to 7 January 2024 inside the Colosseum underground.
The event recovers and enhances the eastern cryptoporticus of the Colosseum which in Roman times connected the Arena with the district of the gymnasiums built by the emperor Domitian, of which the most famous one is the Ludus Magnus, the largest, but also the only one in where part of the ancient structures are preserved. Here the gladiators trained and prepared for performances.
