Art and Culture - Theatre Opera 2012-2013 - Hotel Lirico Rome
The Rome Opera House is the Roman theater par excellence dedicated to Opera and Ballet. Built in 1878 by Domenico Costanzi who, with great foresight, bought the land and entrusted the enterprise to build architect Achille Sfondrini who completed the construction of this theater purely neo-Renaissance style, very fashionable at the time, only two years. The Opera House, although is medium sized with excellent acoustics and a beautiful dome painted by the renowned artist Andrea Brugnoli. Opened nel 1880 the presence of the King of Italy, since 1926 the management is organized by the Municipality of Rome, who bought the theater. Over time, the theater has undergone several restorations that have expanded the number of stages, with a pipe organ with a keyboard and pedals, hidden on the right side of the stage (completely renovated in 2004), installed a Murano chandelier of exceptional manifactureand moved the entrance fromFirenze Street to the square in Viminale Street.
